HOW TO EMBRACE YOUR CURVES.

Image
At one point in life or the other, we have all been self-conscious about how we look and how others perceive us. Hollywood has created this ridiculous stereotype that for you to be viewed as sexy, you have to fit a particular body type. I have started several workout programs after watching BeyoncĂ©’ singing or watching a movie where the actress looked for ridiculously hot. Those programs did not last long because I was trying to look like someone else. Everybody is unique, just because you have curves does not mean you are unhealthy. I have been with people who I admire because they workout, they eat a healthy balanced diet but they also do not deny themselves that treat one’s in a while. They have curves, and they are proud of them because they are living a full, well-balanced life. Getting to the point where you accept yourself for who you are and live your best life is hard, but we are here to help with that. We came up with several tips to help you embrace your curves. ...

IN MEMORY OF MIKE BENSON BUYENGO

Image
I remember the first time I saw you, the first day we joined University. I was a starry-eyed girl who thought she knew everything, what I did not know though was how good a friend you will be to me someday. Those days when I never had a way to get to school and you would send me Kamia mbili to get to class. Or when I did not have money to buy dinner you would share whatever you had with me just to make sure I never slept hungry. Those tough days of exams we would revise with you, not letting EMF or Numerical threaten us. How your smile would light the whole room up and your booming laugh could be heard clear across the room. As I write this I have tears in my eyes but I am in the office trying not to cry. I always looked up to you. Always the leader in our group, getting us to do what needs to be done. You're larger than life personality and how easily you made friends from strangers. Your courage to open your own company in these uncertain times, you did what most ...

MY STRUGGLE WITH DEPRESSION

Image
The Fast Fit Africa Club is a club for people who believe that no matter their size, color or ethnicity, we are all beautiful. For so long I struggled with self-hatred and depression because I believed that I was not perfect or worthy. I compared myself to my friends and found myself short. Several times I used the word "loser" to describe myself. Then one day I was standing on top of a hill and I considered jumping. I thought hell this is the end of the road for me, there is no going up. Nothing is working for me anymore. I am not worthy of being alive. The thought that nobody loved me anymore and no one will miss me when I am gone crossed my mind. I felt worthless. I felt like I was at the end of my rope. I will not say that that was the moment I heard the voice of God calling my name. I did not have any revelation at that moment. Nothing spectacular happened, but I found that I could not do it. I could not jump. I walke...

HOW TO BE HAPPY

Image
Yester night someone tried to break into my apartment. Okay, I might be exaggerating a little bit but someone did peep into my windows at midnight. That freaked me out so I took some precautions to protect myself. As I lay in bed scared, clutching a knife and trying not to fall asleep I started wondering, am I really happy? What makes someone happy? So today I decided that I shall dive head first into the Deep Ocean and try to understand what happiness means. Some people think being happy involves having a lot of money and being surrounded by expensive stuff. I will admit that I am one of those people. Other people think being happy means having a large family. Or looking a certain way. We base our happiness on our surroundings and circumstances. You wake up and the first thing is to check up on Instagram and Facebook, you see the supermodels or people you think are happy and you envy them. When my stomach is flat, I shall be happy. When I finally buy the car, I shall be happy. When...

ADVICE FROM AN 85-YEAR-OLD WOMAN.

Image
My grandma asked me a question yesterday that got me thinking. If someone walked right up to you right now and shot you on the head. One straight shot ensuring you have zero chances of survival, would you regret anything? Have you lived your best life? Is there something that you lay to sleep every night and regret not doing? She said, “We all think we have time until time runs out and we are left with is a pile of I wish I knew.” Nobody ever thinks they are going to die and we are never in fear for our lives every day. A man walking down the street, happy and healthy and he collapses and just like that he is gone. Heart attack. A woman traveling home to see her kids or parents. The car she is in runs into a lorry. Just like that she is gone. A family traveling home for the holiday on a plane and it crashes into the ocean. Just like that the whole family is gone. Life is very fickle. There are so many things that can happen and each day we survive it is by God’s grace. S...

TOP 10 PEOPLE WHO MADE IT LATE IN LIFE.

Image
Success never comes easy, and at times life throws distractions on our path. That does not mean we should give up on our dreams and making dreams come true. Sometimes, you have worked for years, and it is just not working, you doubt yourself. Do not give up anytime soon. Keep holding on. Here is a list of ten people who made it late in life.   1.    Jk Rowling author of Harry Potter: My favorite is Jk Rowling because I read all the Harry Potter books when I was in Primary School. Her imagination is amazing, and it just took time for publishers to realize that her books are fantastic. She was a struggling single mum who was fired for writing at work instead of working. Imagine losing your mum, your job and struggling to raise a child alone?  She managed to sell her first script when she was in her mid-thirties.   2.    Sylvester Stallone: Who has not heard of Sylvester Stallone? He is one of the Most famous American Movie Superst...
