HOW TO EMBRACE YOUR CURVES.

Image
At one point in life or the other, we have all been self-conscious about how we look and how others perceive us. Hollywood has created this ridiculous stereotype that for you to be viewed as sexy, you have to fit a particular body type. I have started several workout programs after watching BeyoncĂ©’ singing or watching a movie where the actress looked for ridiculously hot. Those programs did not last long because I was trying to look like someone else. Everybody is unique, just because you have curves does not mean you are unhealthy. I have been with people who I admire because they workout, they eat a healthy balanced diet but they also do not deny themselves that treat one’s in a while. They have curves, and they are proud of them because they are living a full, well-balanced life. Getting to the point where you accept yourself for who you are and live your best life is hard, but we are here to help with that. We came up with several tips to help you embrace your curves.

ONLY THOSE TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT WILL UNDERSTAND? WEIGHT LOSS STRUGGLE

Image
Have I mentioned to you how much my desire to lose weight has broken my heart several times? Most days, it feels like I am ramming my head onto a stone wall several times. If my body could talk, it would say Lynn is such a bitch. Mention any quick hacks to weight loss; I have tried it. The lemon water, the apple cider vinegar, and my favorite a mixture of apple cider vinegar and Aloe Vera, I gag just thinking about the awful taste. The crash diets, like the military diet and the egg diet. The constant exercising, putting my body through a lot of cardio (at times even two hours of jump rope.) Nothing has worked at that; all I did was hurt my body. At the beginning of this year, I just said enough. Enough is enough, no more torturing my beautiful body, and I started this journey to live a simple happy life. I stopped all those diets and strenuous exercises and went vegan. I struggled so much with weight loss, and when I tried dieting or working out like crazy, and it did not work, I f

HOW TO HELP EACH OTHER DURING THIS CORONA VIRUS HEALTH CRISIS.

Image
I was lying in bed wondering what I can do to help others during this crisis. The crisis has affected all of us and the only way we can get through it is by being positive. WAYS TO HELP THOSE WE LOVE DURING THIS CRISIS 1 Come up with fun game challenges that can be done virtually and in person. Everybody loves competition and it helps you keep in touch. It can be silly dance competition to see who can make the silliest dance OR It can be a Quiz challenge to see who knows best. 2 Share positive news to break the bad news hopelessness spiral, share silly jokes that make others smile. 3 Call and face time those you love, your neighbors and colleagues to check up on them 4 Protect those you love by washing hands or sanitizing as many times as possible, wearing mask when in any public places. Follow government’s directive. 5 Sadly there are those who have lost their jobs due to this pandemic so if you can donate whatever little you can

BE MOTIVATED WHEN SAD OR DEPRESSED

CHOOSE TO BE GRATEFUL Affirmation: I am lucky to have so much to look forward to. It is hard not to compare yourself with other people and see that you have been left behind. The system has trained us to feel like losers when we are not successful at whatever stage we are in life. Set your intention of the day to remember to be grateful. I am grateful that I have a grandma who opened up her house for me and took me in when I had nowhere to go. I am grateful that I have a roof over my head and food on the table. But most importantly I am grateful that I am lucky to have such a bright future ahead of me. At most times we forget that the current situation will not be forever (I am one of those people.) It was nice today to remind myself that this is not forever. That if I keep working hard one day I shall achieve everything that I want. It may not seem like it but the future waiting is better than today. So just stop for a moment, take stock of what you have and remind you

COME TO WORK WITH ME: SAFETY PRECAUTIONS I TOOK AGAINST COVID-19

Excitement fills each pore in my body as I get out of bed, another great day that the Lord has granted me. As usual, I wake at six o’clock and prepare to head to work. It is not a normal day like I am used to; even as I leave my house today I have to be careful. I have to stay on alert and take care of myself. With the corona virus spread around the world, finally, it has made its way into Kenya. I appreciate the government for taking very swift measures and encouraging those who can work from home to do so. Unfortunately, I fall into the category of people who cannot work from home. Even though I do not live hand to mouth where I depend on everyday wages, my job involves a lot of physical work where I have to be present and the inventory is too large and equipment too expensive to carry home. I appreciate my employer for considering my safety and dividing the number of people who have to report to work into three groups of seven people to reduce congestion and

I do not know about you but deep down I am scared. I am scared about what will happen to me, I am scared for my family, I am scared for my job security, I am scared for my country and most important of all I am scared for the whole human population. The Covid-19 came to us like a thief in the night, no warning, no time to prepare. One day we were fine and going about our businesses, a few weeks or months later everything changed. The bridges that we formed as a society were crossed. Nobody was safe anymore. Rich or poor. White or black. Babies or the young or the elderly Man or woman. Africa or the USA. We are all affected. Jobs closed. Countries locked down. Gatherings whether happy or sad shutdown. Churches, schools and places of worship are closed. At this moment, nobody knows what is going to happen to the world. We are all at the edge of our seats, waiting with baited breathe for it to blow over. I would love to wake up tomorrow and find

DEAR MAMA [SIMPLEHAPPYSELF]

This is your love poem For being the most important person in my life. On bent knees each morning I go and pray that the Lord may grant you a longer life May you please live to see your children prosper Every night before I go to sleep I worry Have you eaten? Are you taking care of yourself? Are you okay? Most important I worry; will I get to see you tomorrow? I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for me in my life because no magnitude of thanks is enough to express how I feel No magnitude of thanks is enough to say how happy I am you brought me into this world No magnitude of thanks can show just how glad I am you took time to raise me No magnitude of thanks can illustrate just how amazing of a blessing you are to me in my life I am so lucky that I was chosen to be your daughter You give me the strength to wake up every morning and face the world The moments when I want to give up and just let go, I remember how much you have sacrificed for me I remembe
